Write for us
We welcome pitches that help readers see a design decision more clearly, whether the subject is a printed page, a familiar object, a room, a building or a moment in design history.
What makes a good pitch
Propose one focused question and explain what readers will understand after reading the piece. A strong idea has a clear scope, a useful point of view and examples that can be discussed accurately without relying on unsupported claims or access you do not have.
Contributions we welcome
We consider explanatory features, thoughtful comparisons, design histories, close readings and occasion-specific pieces. We are interested in clear prose and precise observation, not jargon for its own sake or product praise presented as analysis.
How to send it
Send your proposal through the Contact page and choose the editorial question option. Include a working title, a short outline, the proposed category and a brief note about your approach. Please pitch the idea rather than submitting a finished article unless requested.
Design is a way of seeing
Look beyond the finish to notice what a design asks, enables and leaves out. Small details often carry the clearest ideas.
